Taylor|Sprules Designs Packaging for World Youth Day 2002 Natural Spring Water
World Youth Day 2002, the largest single event in Canada in 2002, attracted hundreds of thousands of young 'pilgrims' from all over the world to celebrate their faith in an atmosphere of devotion, commitment and friendship. As temperatures were sure to soar into the mid 30s Celsius, the WYD2002 organising committee approached StonePoint, in association with Taylor|Sprules Corporation, to design, develop and provide custom label bottled water for the event. The packaging had to clearly display the existing WYD2002 logo, communicate the contents of the bottles to an audience of international guests and encourage pilgrims to carry the water with them at all times to remain hydrated.
Taylor|Sprules, also recognising the need for a label that would be retained as a souvenir of the event, developed a unique label program that would be enticing and memorable to a young international audience. Labels were designed and developed in a range of colours to form a collection of unique bottles. Bilingual labels were developed in blue, purple, green, coral and orange.
The WYD2002 was a resounding success for the pilgrims and the City of Toronto. With several hundred thousand participants descending on Toronto during the second half of July and temperatures reaching into the mid 30's Celsius, millions of bottles of water were sold to keep everyone in good spirits and health for the long days of events.
